Accountant

Job Purpose

The Accountant is responsible for managing the financial records, transactions, and reporting processes of the organization. The role ensures compliance with accounting standards, taxation laws, and internal controls while supporting day-to-day financial operations and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Record Keeping
  • Maintain accurate books of accounts, ledgers, and financial data in line with company policies and accounting standards.
  • Record, classify, and summarize financial transactions.
  • Accounts Payable & Receivable
  • Manage supplier/vendor invoices, payments, and reconciliations.
  • Monitor receivables and follow up on collections to ensure timely cash inflows.
  • Banking & Cash Management
  • Prepare and reconcile bank statements.
  • Manage cash flow, petty cash, and online banking transactions.
  • Taxation & Compliance
  • Ensure timely filing and compliance with local taxation laws (Income Tax, Sales Tax, Withholding Tax).
  • Handle EOBI, Social Security, and other statutory payments.
  • Payroll Support
  • Work with HR to process monthly payroll, deductions, allowances, and benefits.
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee payroll data.
  • Financial Reporting
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Support management in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Audit & Internal Controls
  • Provide documentation and support for internal/external audits.
  • Ensure strong internal controls to prevent errors and fraud.
  • Systems & Process Improvement
  • Use accounting software (QuickBooks/ERP/SAP) to maintain efficiency.
  • Recommend improvements in processes for accuracy and cost control.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce (B.Com, M.Com, MBA Finance, ACCA, or CA Inter).
  • Minimum 2–4 years of relevant accounting experience (preferably in Karachi-based organizations).
  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards, financial regulations, and taxation in Pakistan.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and accounting software.
