Accountant

About the Role

AAS Steel Trading LLC is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant to manage daily financial operations, ensure accurate bookkeeping, and oversee inventory tracking using Zoho Books. The ideal candidate will play a key role in maintaining financial accuracy, supporting management decisions, and ensuring full compliance with UAE regulations within a steel trading environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and update accounting records including AP, AR, GL, and bank reconciliations using Zoho Books.
• Manage inventory accounting and stock valuation in Zoho Books, ensuring alignment between physical stock and system records.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
• Handle invoicing, payment processing, credit notes, and debit notes within Zoho Books.
• Monitor cash flow, receivables, payables, and aging reports.
• Reconcile supplier statements and follow up on outstanding balances.
• Coordinate with banks for transfers, LC/TR facilities, and other trade finance requirements (if applicable).
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, and profitability reporting.
• Ensure compliance with UAE VAT regulations, including VAT configuration in Zoho Books, return preparation, and filing.
• Support internal and external audits by providing accurate financial and inventory data.
• Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and inventory.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in trading, steel, or industrial sectors.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles (IFRS preferred).
• Hands-on experience with Zoho Books is mandatory, particularly for inventory tracking and bookkeeping.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting.
• Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and coordinate with operations and sales teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in steel trading or construction materials industry.
• Practical knowledge of inventory costing methods and stock reconciliation.
• Experience handling Letters of Credit, Trust Receipts (TR), and bank facilities.
• UAE experience with VAT audits and FTA compliance.
