Find The RightJob.

At Maelynn, we partner with growth-minded business owners who expect clarity, precision, and proactive financial guidance. Our firm is built on professionalism, accountability, and modern systems that support thoughtful, high-quality work.

The Account Manager role is responsibility-based, not task-based. This position carries full ownership of a portfolio of client accounts and the outcomes tied to them. Accuracy, timeliness, sound judgment, and client confidence all sit within this seat.

As the primary accounting lead for assigned clients, the Account Manager manages accounts end to end with care and precision. Core responsibilities include full-cycle monthly accounting, reconciliations, payroll processing, sales tax filings, financial reporting, and leading client review meetings. You are the trusted point of contact, guiding clients through their financials with clarity and perspective.

This role requires both technical execution and strategic awareness. Every action within an account has downstream effects across cash flow, tax exposure, reporting, and planning. The right candidate approaches each account holistically, understanding how each decision impacts the larger financial picture.

We are seeking a professional who anticipates needs, identifies issues early, and communicates proactively. Our clients expect more than compliance. They expect insight.

Success in this role is measured by clean, reliable financials, consistent on-time delivery, and clients who feel informed, supported, and confident in their numbers.

The position operates with a high degree of independence while remaining deeply collaborative. Team discussion, shared problem solving, and continuous improvement are central to how we work.

Key Responsibilities:

The following responsibilities reflect outcomes this role is accountable for, not simply tasks to complete.

  • Own the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of assigned client accounts.
  • Manage full-cycle monthly accounting, including reconciliations, month-end close, and preparation of financial reports.
  • Lead client review meetings, presenting financial results with clarity and practical insight.
  • Process payroll and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Prepare and file sales tax returns accurately and on time.
  • Identify discrepancies, risks, and unusual trends, resolving issues proactively.
  • Evaluate the downstream impact of accounting decisions on cash flow, tax exposure, and reporting.
  • Maintain clean, reliable financial records that support informed business decisions.
  • Communicate proactively with clients, anticipating needs and strengthening long-term relationships.
  • Contribute to consistent KPI tracking and reporting across client accounts.
  • Review work prepared by other team members when applicable, ensuring accuracy and alignment with firm standards.
  • Support process refinement by contributing to SOP development, workflow improvements, and thoughtful technology implementation.
  • Take personal accountability for outcomes and engage in collaborative, solution-oriented dialogue with the team.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience managing full-cycle accounting for small businesses.
  • Demonstrated experience managing 10+ active client accounts simultaneously, with the capacity to oversee a 10–30 client portfolio while maintaining accuracy, deadlines, and account-specific detail across complex accounts.
  • Experience working with complex industries such as construction or service trades, including job costing and industry-specific compliance.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in QuickBooks Online, including reporting, reconciliations, troubleshooting discrepancies, and managing integrated payroll and sales tax workflows.
  • Solid working knowledge of payroll processing and multi-jurisdiction sales tax compliance.
  • Experience reviewing work for accuracy and upholding consistent accounting standards.
  • Ability to confidently lead financial conversations with business owners and translate technical accounting and tax concepts into practical insight.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve complex accounting issues independently.
  • Proven ability to stay organized, prioritize effectively, and consistently meet deadlines without oversight.
  • High level of comfort working within a modern, technology-driven environment.

Preferred:

  • QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor Certification.
  • Accounting degree or equivalent professional experience.

Additional Requirements:

  • Dedicated professional workspace with reliable internet and professional technology setup.
