Duties
- Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports with precision and clarity.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts through detailed account analysis and bank reconciliation processes to ensure data integrity.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable functions efficiently using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero.
- Conduct month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries, accruals, and adjustments aligned with GAAP standards.
- Support regulatory reporting requirements by ensuring compliance with securities law, governmental accounting standards, and other financial regulations.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to inform strategic decision-making across departments.
- Mentor junior team members on technical accounting practices including double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and internal controls like SOX compliance.
- Perform internal audits and support external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations of financial data.
- Contribute to process improvements by leveraging expertise in accounting software such as PeopleSoft or Xero for increased efficiency.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), SOX compliance, and regulatory reporting standards.
- Proficiency with accounting software including QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of corporate finance concepts such as budgeting, forecasting, cash flow analysis, and financial management.
- Experience with non-profit accounting practices and LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) programs is a plus.
- Ability to interpret complex financial reports accurately and communicate findings clearly through written reports.
- Skilled in account reconciliation procedures including bank reconciliation and general ledger reconciliation.
- Familiarity with securities law, governmental accounting standards, technical accounting issues like Wills & Trusts Law or estate planning is advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor team members while fostering a collaborative work environment focused on continuous learning.
- Excellent analytical skills combined with strong attention to detail in bookkeeping tasks such as journal entries and account analysis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, financial modeling, and report creation; experience with other financial software is desirable. Pay: $79,644.63 - $101,830.09 per year
