The Missouri Department of Mental Health (DMH), Division of Administrative Services, seeks an Accountant to be located in Jefferson City, Missouri. This position will be a part of the Accounting Unit.

The Department of Mental Health is committed to a culture of teamwork and delivering excellent service to the citizens of Missouri. The Division of Administrative Services Accounting Unit is a multi-faceted unit that provides opportunities for growth and development. The normal working hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., however, flextime may be available.

The base salary offered for this position ranges from $41,700.00 - $46,780.00 annually, commensurate with education and experience. If the selected candidate is eligible for a pay differential, such as retention pay, the total salary may exceed what is listed in this posting.

Responsibilities - What you’ll do
  • Process invoices and expense accounts for the Division of Behavioral Health (DBH).
  • Process and track Civil Commitment payments.
  • Process and track Central Office interagency invoices for state printing, telephone and mail services.
  • Process Central Office UPS air bill purchase orders and invoices.
  • Process HUD Continuum of Care invoices.
  • Daily cash receipt processing.
  • Process journal vouchers as requested.
  • Approve payment documents (as needed).
  • Assist with annual archiving or fiscal documents.
  • Attend trainings and professional development as needed to assist your role.
  • Maintain an effective, professional working relationship with supervisors, co-workers and staff in other agencies and offices.
  • Utilize work time and property in an appropriate manner and to the benefit of the department, while minimizing waste and inefficiencies.
Qualifications - All you need for success Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with 0-2 years of relevant experience (substitutions may be allowed).
  • Working knowledge of Accounting, Finance, or closely related fields.

Lack of post‐secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration to any applicant.

  • Communicate clearly and effectively with others, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze data.
  • Organized and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
