Duties
- Prepare and review tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and non-profit organizations, ensuring compliance with current tax laws and regulations
- Conduct detailed financial analysis, including balance sheet reconciliation, account analysis, and general ledger accounting to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms
- Perform auditing procedures to verify financial statements and internal controls in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) requirements
- Assist with estate planning activities by preparing wills, trusts, and estate law documentation while understanding securities law implications
- Support mergers & acquisitions by conducting due diligence, financial report writing, and interpretation of complex financial concepts
- Maintain detailed records of all transactions, perform asset management tasks, and prepare regulatory reports as required
Experience
- Proven experience in public accounting or corporate accounting roles with a strong background in tax experience and financial statement preparation
- Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms; proficiency in bookkeeping and general ledger reconciliation
- Knowledge of GAAP standards, tax accounting principles, debits & credits, and double-entry bookkeeping methods
- Experience working with non-profit accounting practices is a plus
- Strong analysis skills with the ability to interpret financial reports accurately and provide insightful recommendations
- Understanding of securities law, LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit), private equity, asset management, and regulatory reporting is advantageous
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail
