Accountant / Bookkeeper

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Accountant / Bookkeeper to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing day-to-day bookkeeping activities, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting the preparation of financial reports. Your expertise will ensure compliance with accounting standards and contribute to the overall financial health of the organization. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with diverse accounting software and gain valuable experience in both corporate and non-profit accounting environments.

Responsibilities

  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections
  • Perform bank reconciliations and general ledger accounting to maintain accurate financial data
  • Prepare journal entries, account analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
  • Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Quicken, and other financial tools to record transactions and generate reports
  • Conduct month-end closing activities, including account reconciliation and financial statement preparation
  • Support budgeting processes by tracking expenses and assisting with financial report writing
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and assist with tax preparation activities when needed

Experience

  • Proven experience working with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms
  • Strong understanding of corporate accounting principles, including double-entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and journal entries
  • Experience in governmental or non-profit accounting is a plus
  • Familiarity with GAAP standards and technical accounting concepts
  • Demonstrated ability to perform bank reconciliations, account reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation accurately
  • Knowledge of payroll processing, accounts payable/receivable management, and tax-related activities
  • Excellent organizational skills with proficiency in 10 key typing for data entry accuracy
  • Prior experience in public accounting or a similar professional setting is highly desirable
