Accountant (Excise Tax and VAT specialist)

ABOUT US

We are a fast-growing distributor of premium tobacco products in the UAE, currently launching in duty-free and domestic retail channels. As we expand, we’re seeking an experienced Accountant with strong knowledge of UAE tax regulations, especially Excise Tax, to manage our financial operations and compliance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Accounting & Bookkeeping

• Maintain accurate daily records of all income, expenses, and inventory movement
• Reconcile bank statements and manage petty cash
• Process supplier invoices, staff payments, and marketing agency costs

VAT & Excise Tax Compliance

• Prepare and submit monthly excise tax declarations via the FTA portal
• Monitor excise stamp usage and coordinate with warehouse/excise officers
• Ensure timely VAT filings and accurate input/output tax records
• Maintain compliance with all FTA regulations and updates

Invoicing & Accounts Receivable

• Generate and send invoices to duty-free clients and retail partners
• Track receivables, follow up on overdue payments, and reconcile statements
• Maintain credit and payment terms documentation

Reporting & Financial Control

• Provide monthly reports: P&L, cash flow, tax summaries, and budget variance
• Assist with inventory costing and gross margin analysis
• Support audit preparation and liaise with external auditors or consultants
• Monitor tax liabilities and upcoming payments

REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum 3–5 years of accounting experience in the UAE
• Direct experience filing Excise Tax and VAT via the FTA portal
• Experience working in FMCG, distribution, or regulated goods (e.g., tobacco, alcohol, pharma)
• Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Zoho Books, or Tally
• Strong knowledge of UAE corporate tax basics is a plus
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and deadline-driven
• English fluency required; Arabic is a plus
