Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be highly organized and able to work independently, with strong attention to detail and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Confidentiality and flexibility are essential.
Requirements:
- Proficiency in Sage (Peachtree) and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field
Preferred:
- Master’s degree
- New Jersey School Business Administrator Certificate (issued by the NJDOE)
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
Position Overview
Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Accountant / Business Manager will oversee all financial responsibilities of the school, including fiscal planning, budgeting, payroll, employee benefits, audits, and compliance with New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) regulations.
This is a full-time, year-round, on-site position. Remote work is not available.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a working knowledge of NJDOE regulations related to New Jersey APSSD schools and ensure compliance with all state financial requirements
- Partner with the School Principal/Director to implement and maintain effective internal controls impacting financial processes, state reporting, and overall operational safety
- Perform bookkeeping functions and prepare all required financial reports
- Compile and provide financial data as requested by the Executive Director
- Maintain personnel records, including benefits administration
Pay: $70,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
