Accounting Assistant

About the Role

J.R. Helms & Associates, P.C. is a full-service accounting, tax, and business consulting firm based in Indianapolis. We are hiring an Accounting Assistant to support daily firm operations and help keep our office organized and running efficiently.

This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, dependable, and eager to learn, with strong communication skills and the ability to support both administrative and operational needs of a busy accounting office.

What You’ll Do

  • Communicate with clients and coworkers to support daily firm operations
  • Manage budgetary information and coordinate ordering of office supplies and facility maintenance
  • Prepare administrative documents such as time cards, expense reports, and internal requests
  • Organize and maintain correspondence and administrative files
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings and conferences
  • Answer incoming phone calls and assist accounting staff with document preparation, filing, and document transmission

  • Comfortable with PC-based work, including document preparation, file management, and office software
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to contribute additional talents or skills that support the office in unique ways

Compensation:

$40,500 – $47,750, depending on experience and demonstrated capability.

  • $40,500 – Entry level; learning the role with guidance
  • $43,000 – Experienced; performs core responsibilities independently
  • $47,750 – Highly experienced; contributes beyond standard responsibilities

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $24.00 per hour
