Position: Accounting Director

General Summary:
The Accounting Director is responsible for the overall delivery of MSP Beans accounting and bookkeeping services. This position’s responsibilities include directly managing a number of teams led by Senior Associates, maintaining strong client relationships, and delivering relevant financial analysis for IT Managed Services clients. The Accounting Director will be expected to assist in developing and/or improving processes and managing the team to make sure that MSP Beans successfully meets its service level objectives. The ideal candidate should have excellent communication skills and be detail-oriented with a strong background in accounting principles and practices.
Although not a mandatory prerequisite for consideration. This role will require the employee to develop strong proficiency with a number of software integrations and external service providers relevant to the IT Managed Services industry.
Job Responsibilities:
- Supervise a number of small teams lead by Senior Associates in order to maintain a high level of service for clients and make sure that MSP Beans meets its service level objectives.
- Act as the lead resource for both internal staff members and clients looking for guidance on accounting related topics.
- Develop relevant internal guidelines, resources and standard operating procedures for staff members to follow.
- Assist in the hiring process of new associates.
- Onboard and train new associates.
- Assist with development and implementation of a formalized training program for new associates as well as for current associates who desire to grow into the senior associate role.
- Manage the onboarding process for new clients and assist staff members as needed.
- Act as the escalation point of contact in order to resolve potential issues that may arise related to services provided to clients.
- Responsible for the accuracy and completeness of financial records for bookkeeping clients
- Financial Reporting - Analyzing financial data and reviewing financial statements for clients, management, stakeholders, and external parties such as lenders, tax preparers, vendors. etc. This includes presenting relevant information to clients on their financial metrics, common industry metrics and when requested, providing advice.
- Communicating with clients to both request and provide information relevant to MSP Beans’ services.
- Assist other departments in developing strategies, establishing objectives, and making decisions that could have a financial impact on the business.
- Stay informed about the latest developments in the accounting, bookkeeping, finance and IT Managed Service industries.
Reference Information – Responsibilities of Direct Reports:
1. Maintain accurate and complete financial records for bookkeeping clients. This includes tasks related to the following:
- Recording and Categorizing Transactions
- Accounts Payable
- Accounts Receivable
- Bank Reconciliations
- Cashflow Forecasts
- Cost of Goods Sold
- Sales Tax Preparation
- Vendor Reconciliations
- Participating in audits as needed.
2. Financial Reporting - Analyzing financial data and preparing financial statements for clients, management, stakeholders, and external parties such as lenders, tax preparers, vendors. etc.
3. Client Billing – Prepare and send invoices from our clients to their customers.
4. Payroll – Prepare and execute payroll processes on behalf of our customers
5. Communicating with clients to both request and provide information relevant to MSP Beans’ services.
6. Supervise a small team of associates in order to maintain a high quality of service for clients related to accuracy and communications.
7. Act as the “Client Lead” for a substantial number of clients.
8. Function as the lead team member for new clients during the onboarding process.
9. Assist other departments in developing strategies, establishing objectives, and making decisions that could have a financial impact on the business.
10. Stay informed about the latest developments in the accounting, bookkeeping, finance and IT Managed Service industries.
Qualifications:
Mandatory:
- 10+ years of Accounting Experience.
- CPA, CA or equivalent Accounting License/Designation.
- Prior experience supervising junior staff members.
- Expert level knowledge of QuickBooks Online.
- High level of proficiency with all MS Excel and other relevant MS Office products
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Significant work experience performing duties related to Accounting, Bookkeeping or Finance roles.
- Strong understanding of accounting, finance, and management principles.
- Exceptional math skills.
- Proficiency with computers, especially bookkeeping software, and MS Office.
- Willingness to learn and comply with all local, state, federal, and company regulations.
- Attention to detail and the ability to analyze large amounts of data.
Preferred:
- Experience with various banking, credit card, payment and payroll portals.
- Experience performing accounting or bookkeeping related duties for companies in service industries, especially those related to IT Managed Services.
- Experience with IT Managed Services software such as PSAs (AutoTask, ConnectWise, Halo, etc.)
