Accounting Manager

Location: Abu Dhabi
Experience Required: 7–10 years in accounting, with at least 6 years in a contracting or construction environment.

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager with strong contracting industry experience to lead our accounting operations. The ideal candidate must have deep knowledge of project-based accounting, cost control, and financial reporting — and the ability to work under high pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
• Manage project accounting, including cost tracking, WIP reports, progress billings, and retention accounting.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with accounting standards.
• Supervise and mentor junior accountants and ensure timely and accurate financial entries.
• Coordinate with project managers, procurement, and operations teams to monitor project costs and profitability.
• Manage cash flow, payments, and ensure proper allocation of project expenses.
• Prepare and review budget forecasts, cost analysis, and variance reports.
• Ensure compliance with VAT, audits, and internal control procedures.
• Liaise with external auditors, banks, and regulatory authorities as needed.
• Support management in strategic decision-making through accurate financial insights.
• Handle multiple priorities under pressure while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA is a plus).
• 7–10 years of experience, with at least 4 years in a contracting or construction company.
• Strong understanding of cost accounting, job costing, and project financial management.
• Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Tally, SAP, or Oracle).
• Excellent command of MS Excel and financial analysis tools.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet strict deadlines, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills across departments.

Preferred Attributes:

• Experience in managing subcontractor payments, progress certificates, and retention releases.
• Hands-on knowledge of UAE accounting standards, VAT laws, and project-based reporting.
• Proven track record of improving financial processes and ensuring accuracy under tight schedules.
