We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to lead our financial operations and ensure the integrity of our accounting processes. Duties
- Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals to ensure accurate and timely completion of all accounting functions
- Oversee general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, and journal entries to maintain precise financial records
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with company policies
- Prepare and interpret financial statements, reports, and analysis to support management decision-making
- Ensure adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act), and other regulatory requirements such as LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) regulations
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and audit preparations to uphold financial integrity
- Oversee regulatory reporting obligations, including tax filings and other statutory disclosures
- Implement and maintain accounting software systems such as Sage, Xero, or similar platforms to streamline operations
- Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow analysis, and financial modeling for various projects or organizational units
- Ensure compliance with securities law, governmental accounting standards, and non-profit accounting practices where applicable
- Develop training programs to mentor staff on technical accounting concepts such as debits & credits, accrual accounting, double entry bookkeeping, and financial report writing
Experience
- Proven experience in public accounting or corporate finance with a strong background in financial statement preparation and analysis
- Extensive knowledge of GAAP, SOX compliance requirements, and regulatory reporting standards
- Demonstrated expertise in technical accounting areas including securities law, governmental accounting, non-profit accounting, and estate law (wills & trusts)
- Hands-on experience with major accounting software such as Sage or Xero; proficiency in financial software tools for account reconciliation and ledger management
- Strong understanding of financial concepts including balance sheet reconciliation, cash flow analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and account analysis
- Experience mentoring or supervising teams within an accounting environment with a focus on professional development
- Familiarity with auditing processes and internal controls to ensure compliance with industry standards
- Ability to interpret complex financial data into clear reports for executive leadership or external stakeholders
- Knowledge of tax regulations related to corporate finance or non-profit organizations is preferred
