Job Summar

The Surgery Center Accounting Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for multiple ambulatory surgery centers (ASC). This role supports daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, payroll support, and financial reporting, while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and internal controls.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Operations

  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate posting of all financial transactions
  • Process accounts payable, including vendor invoices, physician payments, and expense reimbursements
  • Manage accounts receivable, including patient balances, insurance payments, and follow-up as needed
  • Perform bank and credit card reconciliations monthly
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes

Payroll & Physician Compensation

  • Support payroll processing and reconciliation
  • Track physician distributions, ownership allocations, and related payments
  • Maintain accurate records for bonuses, stipends, and call pay (if applicable)

Billing & Revenue Support

  • Work closely with revenue cycle team to reconcile charges, payments, and adjustments
  • Monitor revenue reports and identify discrepancies
  • Assist with cash flow tracking and daily deposit reconciliation

Reporting & Compliance

  • Prepare routine financial reports (income statements, expense reports, variance analysis)
  • Maintain documentation for audits, tax preparation, and regulatory reviews
  • Ensure compliance with ASC policies, HIPAA, and applicable healthcare regulations

Administrative Support

  • Maintain organized financial records and filing systems
  • Communicate with vendors, physicians, and management regarding financial matters
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities as requested

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience (healthcare or ASC experience preferred)
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar)
  • Strong Excel skills (reconciliations, reports, formulas)
  • High attention to detail and accuracy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a healthcare or ambulatory surgery center setting
  • Knowledge of medical billing, CPT codes, and insurance payment workflows
  • Experience supporting audits or working with CPAs

Pay: From $55,000.00 per year
