Accounting Specialist

Position Summary:

Flexfab is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive individual to join our accounting team in Hastings, Michigan. The accounting specialist is responsible for working on-site supporting the accounts payable and fixed asset accounting activities. This role requires a high level of accuracy, efficiency, and collaboration with the accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Performing three-way match of vendor invoices with purchase orders and receiving documents within the ERP/accounting system
• Ensuring purchase requisitions and invoices are properly coded
• Coordinating and validating appropriate approval for invoice payments
• Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues
• Correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries.
• Provide backup support to Accounts Payable coordinator for preparation and processing of weekly ACH, wire, credit card and check payments
• Monitoring the shared AP mailbox and saving/indexing AP documents into electronic repository
• Maintain the fixed asset subledger, including additions, disposals, transfers and retirements
• Tracking of capital project spend and completion status
• Support period-end fixed asset close activities including calculating and creating journal entries for depreciation and capitalization and reconciliation of subledger to general ledger
• Prepare audit schedules and respond to audit inquiries
• Support property tax filings and asset reporting as required
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies
• Support with year-end physical inventory
• Act as backup for hourly payroll processing, including timecard review, exception resolution, and timely payroll completion
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• 1-2 years of working experience with accounting software is preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook
• Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Work on-site
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
