Job Summary
Bach in Baltimore, (abbreviated BIB below), depends solely on grants, donations and ticket sales to perform its paying concerts and outreach concerts each year. As of 2025-2026, our Annual Budget is between $250 and $350K. The Accounts & Finance Manager for BIB is a key position for ensuring the management of the organization’s finances through proper and sound bookkeeping, the timely filing of regulatory tax documentation, and the appropriate financial control and reporting for grants and donations.

The Accounts and Finance Manager will work in partnership with the organization’s Treasurer and President, report to the Executive Director, and will be required to interface with other contractors and Board Directors as needed. (may evolve as identified by the organization and the Contractor)

We estimate this contracted position to require 30-40 hours per month.

Responsibilities

The main duties and responsibilities are:

  • Bookkeeping

Manage and maintain up-to-date bookkeeping

Complete monthly financial reports for Operating Account, comparing monthly and YTD numbers with those of prior year

Identify and recommend procedures and software needs for more efficient bookkeeping

  • Handling Money

Donations (checks, cash, stock transactions)

Concert Day payments

Act as a second counter of any such payments

Billing (program book, venues, choir registrations)

Accounts Receivable

Accounts Payable

Staff checks

Musicians (regular and outreach concerts)

Venue rentals

Special events

  • Signing authority on all bank accounts
  • Prepare and file all tax documents as required with the proper authorities before deadline without requesting deadline extension
  • Prepare with Treasurer, any financial accountability reports required by Foundations or Counties etc. who provide grants
  • Attend four-five board meetings / year, providing financial updates at least seven days prior to each board meeting
  • Maintain physical and digital records of financial activities and provide for backup and transfer of such records as necessary.

Experience

The Accounts and Finance Manager will be:

  • Highly Proficient with QuickBooks and accounting / payments software
  • Organized, and able to adhere to deadlines
  • A pro-active and solution seeker, positive attitude, able to move things forward
  • A good communicator, raising issues as required.
  • Able to partner on projects with internal BIB members and external suppliers.
  • Professional with good communication skills.
  • A licensed Maryland CPA.

Estimated Hours per month
30-40 hours per month; slightly more when completing budget in advance of July 1 start to our fiscal year.

Pay: From $1,000.00 per month
