Position: GST Assistant
Location: Ashok Nagar, Chennai
Reporting To: GST Manager / Partner
Role Summary
We are looking for a technically competent and highly responsible GST Assistant with prior experience in a Chartered Accountant firm. The candidate will be responsible for managing end-to-end GST compliance for assigned clients, including return preparation, reconciliations, registration processes, and compliance support.
The role demands strong technical clarity, structured working practices, and absolute commitment to statutory deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
GST Return Filing
- Coordinate with clients for timely collection of sales, purchase, and tax data
- Prepare and file GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B accurately within due dates
- Ensure proper classification of outward and inward supplies
- Maintain complete and organized working papers for all filings
GST Reconciliation & Compliance
- Reconcile GSTR-1 with GSTR-3B
- Reconcile GSTR-2B with GSTR-3B and identify mismatches
- Communicate discrepancies to clients and ensure corrective action
- Prepare and maintain reconciliation workings required for GST Annual Return and 9C alignment
GST Registration & Amendments
- Handle new GST registrations
- Process amendments in core and non-core fields
- Manage cancellation, revocation, and other GST portal compliance requirements
E-Invoice & E-Way Bill Compliance
- Understand basics of e-invoice generation and IRN process
- Assist clients in e-invoice validation and reconciliation with returns
- Handle amendments and cancellation procedures where required
Notice Support & Department Coordination
- Compile data and supporting documents for GST notices
- Assist in preparing reconciliation statements required for notice replies
- Coordinate with clients and internal team for compliance documentation
- Support communication with GST officers under supervision
Client Management
- Maintain compliance tracker for assigned clients
- Send timely reminders and ensure disciplined follow-ups
- Ensure professional and structured communication at all times
Required Skills
- Practical experience in GST compliance within a CA firm (mandatory)
- Strong understanding of GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, and reconciliation processes
- Experience in GST portal operations
- Proficiency in MS Excel (reconciliations, data analysis, validations)
- Ability to maintain structured documentation and working papers
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability

Qualification & Experience
- B.Com / M.Com / Commerce Graduate
- Minimum 1 year of GST experience in a CA firm (mandatory)
- CA Inter / CMA Inter candidates preferred
