Accounts Payable Specialist

In the role of Accounts Payable Specialist you will manage the full accounts payable cycle, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices, maintaining strong vendor relationships, and supporting the company’s overall operations. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an AP professional looking to grow within a collaborative and dynamic accounting team.


Accounts Payable Specialist Responsibilities:

  • Perform bank reconciliations and monitor online banking activity, including check and ACH positive pay.
  • Support monthly close by reconciling AP-related accounts and ensuring accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare and compile documentation for annual audits.
  • Process and verify financial transactions using ERP/SAP systems.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of accounting records through data entry and transaction review.
  • Investigate and resolve accounts payable issues in collaboration with management.
  • Maintain journals and ledgers by analyzing, verifying, and posting transactions.
  • Prepare and process payments, including checks and electronic deposits.
  • Verify and maintain customer and vendor records.
  • Organize and manage financial documents for processing and recordkeeping.
  • Assist with cost tracking by allocating and recording expenditures.
  • Provide support to AP/AR and the broader accounting team as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial information.
  • Stay current with accounting practices through ongoing professional development.
  • Contribute to team objectives and support departmental goals as needed.


Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2 years of accounts payable or general accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
  • High attention to detail with strong accuracy in data entry and transaction review.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Effective problem-solving skills and ability to investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Good communication skills and ability to collaborate with internal teams and management.
  • Ability to handle sensitive financial information with confidentiality.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
