Accounts Payable Specialist

LHH Recruitment Solutions is looking for an accounts payable specialist for a client in Downtown Cincinnati Ohio. Ideal candidates will have at least 3 years of experience in accounts payable along with string Microsoft Excel skills. This position is temp to hire and will pay between $23 and $28/hr.

Responsibilities

• Process high‑volume vendor invoices, including subcontractor, service, and material invoices, ensuring accuracy, proper coding, and timely payment
• Perform three‑way matching of invoices, purchase orders, and receiving or job documentation
• Code invoices to the appropriate general ledger accounts, cost centers, and project or job numbers
• Review invoices for compliance with contract terms, payment schedules, retainage, and approvals
• Coordinate with project teams and internal stakeholders to resolve invoice discrepancies, missing documentation, and billing issues
• Maintain vendor records, including setup, W‑9 collection, and payment terms
• Prepare and process weekly check runs, ACH payments, and wire transfers
• Reconcile vendor statements and research outstanding balances or variances
• Assist with month‑end close activities, including accruals, reconciliations, and reporting
• Support year‑end processes such as audits and 1099 preparation
• Maintain organized and accurate electronic and paper records in accordance with company policies
• Assist with process improvements and special accounting projects as assigned

Qualifications

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred
• 2+ years of accounts payable experience in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment
• Experience with job‑costing, project‑based accounting, or complex invoice structures strongly preferred
• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work cross‑functionally
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
