What You'll Do:
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Controller, the Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for the smooth running of the financial operations of STRC by ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant processing of vendor, purchase orders, expense reimbursements, and payments. This role is highly detail-oriented and requires balancing strong accounting knowledge with exceptional guest service to both internal departments and external vendors.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES

Promote and support a culture of excellence at Spokane Tribe Resort & Casino by modeling STRC values, delivering exceptional guest service, and upholding the highest standards of professionalism and ethics.

Provide exceptional guest service throughout all interactions.

Ensure compliance with all applicable gaming regulations, internal controls, and departmental policies, including requirements of the Gaming Commission and applicable state and federal authorities.

Review, code, and enter invoices, purchase orders, contracts, and credit-card statements into the accounting system.

Validate appropriate approvals, match invoices to purchase orders and receivers for accuracy.

Monitor due dates and schedule timely check runs, ACH, or electronic payments to vendors.

Reconcile vendor statements, research and resolve discrepancies, and track credits, discounts, and returns.

Maintain accurate and audit-ready documentation of all payables in compliance with STRC internal controls, GAAP, and departmental SOPs.

Partner with department leaders to address purchase or payment questions and provide guidance on proper coding.

Respond promptly and professionally to vendor and internal inquiries to maintain strong relationships and guest service standards.

Assist with month-end accruals, reconciliations, reporting requirements, and year-end close.

Support internal and external audits by providing requested AP records, reports, and explanations.

Maintain a current file of contracts and verify vendor billing against executed terms.

Ensure all activities comply with all applicable regulations and maintain appropriate records.

Use STRC's accounting, ERP, and document-management software to process payables and support paperless workflows.

Protect confidentiality and data integrity in all financial records and transactions.

Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy in AP processes and recommend solutions to leadership.

Provide support for special projects, system upgrades, or process enhancements as assigned.

Adhere to departmental policies, established deadlines, and high standards of accuracy under high-volume or time-sensitive conditions.

Demonstrate dependability and reliability by maintaining regular, punctual attendance and consistently fulfilling assigned shifts and responsibilities.

Create, maintain, and facilitate a positive and safe work environment; promote healthy team member relations and report concerns to appropriate personnel.

What You'll Bring:
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience

High School diploma or GED; College degree in accounting or related, preferred.
- Two (2) years of accounts payable or general accounting experience, preferably in a casino or hospitality environment.

Willing and available to work varied schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and special events
Skills, Abilities & Competencies

Proficient knowledge of AP software and ERP/Accounting Platforms.

Advanced knowledge and skills using MS Excel (including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs)

Proficiency in 10-key by touch.

Advanced numerical acumen and accuracy.

Strong organizational, analytical thinking, and administrative skills, including documentation, recordkeeping, and attention to detail.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and compliance.

Communicate effectively with guests, team members, and external contacts. Read, write, and speak English fluently.
