About This Role:
The role of the Accounts Payable Technician is essential to our mission, as they play a crucial role in managing a designated portfolio of suppliers and invoices within a fast-paced and high-volume environment.
Responsibilities include retrieving assigned invoices and processing them accurately and efficiently. This involves verifying invoice details, matching them with the appropriate purchase orders and receipts, and entering the transactions into an Oracle-based ERP system. As the Technician, you will ensure the smooth movement of payments through the workflow until they reach the suppliers through a comprehensive reconciliation process. You will also rely on established tracking systems, carefully documenting every step of the process. You will assist with the management and downloading of an assigned portfolio of invoices from the supplier’s online portal.

Additionally, the Accounts Payable Technician assists with the management and processing of an assigned portfolio of employee expense reimbursements and travel advances. This involves auditing the paperwork submitted by employees to verify its accuracy and completeness. Each transaction is then processed into the Oracle-based ERP system, ensuring that employees are reimbursed promptly and that travel advances are disbursed on time to facilitate business needs. Supplemental duties include receiving, processing, documenting, tracking, and depositing cash receipts.

This is a Full-Time position that entitles the individual to a comprehensive benefits package offered by Prince William County, including Medical, Dental, Paid Time Off, and participation in the Virginia Retirement System.


Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma or G.E.D. and 1 year of related experience.

Preferences:

The ideal candidate will possess the following key attributes:

  • 2-4 years of Accounts Payable experience in a high-volume and fast-paced environment
  • Accounts Payable research and reconciliation experience
  • Employee expense reimbursement and travel advance auditing and processing experience
  • Experience with ERP Systems
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and Adobe Acrobat products
  • Highly analytical and attention to detail skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment


Special Requirements:
Background checks, which may include but are not limited to: Criminal History Check, Credit History Check, Education Verification Check, License Verification Check, and/or fingerprinting may be required.

Fire & Rescue Requirement: Effective October 2012, mandated by the Virginia State Board of Health 12VAC5-31-540, VA EMS Regulations require a criminal background check conducted by the Central Crime Records Exchange and the National Crime Information Center via Virginia State Police; and a driving record transcript from your residential state Department of Motor Vehicles.

Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, between 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Prince William County offers a 37.5-week schedule.

Starting Salary Range
:
$23.25-$45.12, Hourly.


Prince William County Government offers medical plans with corresponding pharmacy and basic vision coverage, as well as dental plans and a separate vision plan.

Full-time and part-time Prince William County Government employees are eligible to participate in our plans; however, the level and cost of benefits depends on the classification of the position.
