Accounts Receivable Specialist

SUMMARY

The Accounts Receivable Specialist position is responsible for a broad range of AR functions and support. This includes, but is not limited to, securing revenue by verifying posted receipts and resolving discrepancies. This position will ensure efficient, timely, and accurate payment of customer accounts under control by resolving billing issues, following up on customer inquiries and disputes, account reconciliations, detailed analysis/metrics, communicating cross-functionally (head of departments, executives, co-workers in Operations, Sales, Purchasing, and Customer Service departments), and summarizing large volumes of raw data.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage a portfolio of customers; understanding their objectives and requirements;
  • Effectively identify and resolve customer issues in order to ensure timely payment within departmental guidelines;
  • Correspond/communicate with customers daily in a professional manner;
  • Maintain orderly and complete detailed documentation on all accounts and collection efforts;
  • Accurately research accounts, with the ability to explain the account/invoice to the client/customer;
  • Minimize bad debt exposure, maintain aging at an acceptable level;
  • Work with internal departments to investigate disputes and process payments;
  • Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with customers, clients, and coworkers;
  • Punctuality and regular and reliable attendance.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

· Education and/or Experience: Associate degree in Accounting or related field, or 1-3 years in A/R, collections, or customer service/call center. Knowledge of accounts receivable and familiarity with accounts payable, with bookkeeping and basic accounting procedures.

· Language Skills: Excellent communication skills, including reading, writing, and verbally communicating effectively and professionally with other business departments, customers, and vendors. Ability to diplomatically deal with difficult situations and people while exhibiting a consistent level of professionalism.

· Technical Skills: Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, databases, and accounting software. Accurate data entry and word processing skills.

· Reasoning Ability: Analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to think independently and to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of different situations. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, report, or schedule form.

· Other Skills & Abilities: Positive and professional attitude. Highly organized. Good negotiation skills. Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively as part of a team to productively accomplish company goals. Accuracy and attention to detail. Effective time management skills. Ability to efficiently perform filing and record-keeping tasks.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

· Stand and walk alternatively, depending on the specific needs of the day. Estimate: 20% of the time is spent on feet, and 80% is spent sitting at the desk.

· Have occasional need to perform the following physical activities: bending/stooping/squatting, climbing stairs, pushing, pulling, twisting, lifting, and reaching above shoulders.

· Have frequent need to perform standing and walking activities.

· Consistent need to perform the following physical activities: writing/typing, grasping/turning, finger dexterity.

· Lifting/carrying up to 10 lbs occasionally.

· Vision requirements: consistent need to complete forms, view the computer screen. Frequent need to see small details. Frequent need to see things clearly beyond arm's reach.

· Hearing requirements: consistent need to communicate over the telephone and in person.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate.

Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
