Acquisitions Clerk

Acquisition Clerk

The Acquisition Clerk orders and receives library books and media; authorized payment for books and media invoiced; reconciles problem orders and shipments; creates item records and labels for new material items, and prepares items for cataloging and processing.

Additional Responsibilities include:
  • Prepares orders selected by the Collection Development department;
  • Checks and receives ordered materials; barcodes items and assigns predetermined locations;
  • Performs the processes of ordering and receiving materials; verifies and authorizes invoices for payment, creates invoice records, and applies appropriate credits;
  • Creates invoice records;
  • Contacts vendors regarding problem invoicing and shipments, and follows up on missing or defective items;
  • Creates item records for new items and prints labels;
  • Works on Technical Services Help Line to assist staff with related issues;
  • Tracks and compiles statistics for monthly reporting;
  • Actively supports TCCL's Equity, Diversity and Inclusion efforts, and the Library's Be All In culture;
  • Performs other duties as instructed and assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Ability to navigate and perform tasks on a variety of software and hardware, including databases, spreadsheets, word processing, email and Internet;
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills as well as strong attention to detail;
  • Alphabetic and numeric sorting skills.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or G.E.D required;
  • 6 months to 1 year of related administration experience preferred.

Salary: $14.42 Benefits include insurance, paid time off, pension and 457b savings
Status: Full-Time - 40 hrs./week
Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am and 5pm,

Physical Activity & Environmental Conditions
  • Work occasionally requires stooping or bending. Occasional light lifting, such as three or four reams of paper, four or five books, or other materials (up to 20 pounds) may be required.
  • There are no major sources of discomfort; work is essentially conducted in a normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature and air conditions.
