Administrative Assistant

St. Mary Catholic Church in Independence, MO is seeking an Administrative Assistant to support the daily operations of the parish office. This position wil be responsible for a full range of administrative and secretarial duties for members of the staff and parish. This position is part-time working 15 hours a week and reports to the Pastor.

Essential Duties:

  • Assist with general office duties, such as answering the telephone, process incoming and out going mail, etc.
  • General filing.
  • Assist the Pastor in administrative areas as needed.
  • Provide administrative support for new hires and existing staff.
  • Ensure paperwork is complete for new hires and existing staff.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Set priorities and organize work effectively and efficienctly.
  • Ability to multitask and work independently in a busy environment.
  • Handle records and sensitive issues with confidentiality, empathy amd compassion.
  • Demonstrate exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrate high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Promote a sense of collaboration and teamwork.

Requirements:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic office technology.
  • Previous experience as an Administrative Assistant/Secretary.
  • Practicing Catholic with ethical standards, personal integrity, and conduct consistent with the morals and teachings of the Catholic Church.
