Administrative /Legal Assistant

Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Administrative /Legal Assistant to support our legal team across a variety of practice areas. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic law office environment, providing essential administrative and legal support to attorneys. The ideal candidate will possess strong research, document management, and communication skills, with experience in diverse legal fields including family law, criminal law, litigation and more. This position is integral to maintaining efficient case workflows and ensuring accurate legal documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide executive administrative support by managing calendars, scheduling appointments, and coordinating meetings.
  • Assist with legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other case law databases to support ongoing litigation and case preparation.
  • Draft, review, and proofread legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, briefs, and correspondence with precision.
  • Manage document review and case management using systems like iManage and legal case management software.
  • Organize and maintain filing systems both electronically and physically, ensuring confidentiality and easy retrieval of case files.
  • Perform data entry and document management tasks to support various legal practice areas including criminal law, family law, personal injury cases and litigation cases.
  • Assist with document review processes for accuracy and completeness; proofread legal documents for clarity and correctness.
  • Transcribe dictations and prepare summaries or reports as needed.
  • Maintain professional phone etiquette when communicating with clients or external agencies.
  • Support attorneys with project management tasks related to ongoing cases or legal initiatives.

Experience

  • Prior experience working in a law office or legal administrative role is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with case management systems (MyCase/Clio etc.), OneDrive and Microsoft Word/Excel.
  • Experience supporting multiple practice areas including criminal law, family law, personal injury law, and preparation for trial is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
  • Excellent writing skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence.
  • Proven proofreading abilities to ensure accuracy in all legal materials.
  • Experience in data entry and clerical tasks within a professional environment.
  • Ability to handle confidential information discreetly while maintaining high standards of professionalism. Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 – 35 per week
