POSITION DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Site Coordinator

DEPARTMENT: After School, Summer, and ASES Programs

REPORTS TO: Area Director

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

Position: Full time

Regular Shift: 9:30am-6:30pm

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The primary function of the Site Coordinator is to assist in the planning, implementation, supervision, and evaluation of all education programs and activities provided to our members in Simi Valley. The Boys & Girls Club of Moorpark & Simi Valley operates at the Simi Valley Clubhouse in addition to three on-campus Simi Valley Unified School District locations at Berylwood, Park View, and Santa Susana Elementary.

KEY ROLES AND ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepare Youth for Success

  • Ensure programs, services and activities prepare youth for success, promoting safety of members and quality in programs at all times. Provide guidance and role modeling to assigned staff and all club members.
  • Contribute to the planning and implementation of the strategic plan by:
  • Planning, organizing and implementing a range of program services and activities
  • Recommending the development of service area programs
  • Promoting and stimulating program participation.
  • Ensure program quality improvement by monitoring and evaluating program achievement against target goals, recommending modifications that respond to member needs and interests, and participating in weekly staff meetings.

Health and Safety

  • Ensure a healthy and safe environment, supervising staff members at all sites as needed.
  • Manage facilities and ensure a productive work environment,
  • Maintaining an inventory of all program equipment and supplies and submit requisitions, as necessary; while controlling expenditures against monthly supply budget

KEY ROLES AND ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (continued):

Program Development and Implementation

  • Manage administrative systems by registering new members and keeping memberships current
  • Help coordinate new student / parent orientation process
  • Promote the program at all local elementary and middle schools and conduct outreach to increase enrollment.
  • Ensure maximum enrollment of students for the assigned school
  • Develop positive working relationships with school and district staff
  • Implement grade level curriculum / lesson plans aligned with school district and CDE standards
  • Implement daily homework, tutoring, enrichment and physical activity schedule.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records ensuring staff are signing members each day and parents / guardians are signing their children out each day.
  • Ensure members are consistently attending the program
  • Ensure accurate maintenance of daily homework completion log and behavior log for each program participant.

Supervision

  • Recruit, train and manage staff and volunteers; provide ongoing feedback; and identify and support development opportunities.
  • Oversee Site Staff and ensure their compliance with all program requirements.
  • Maintain no more than a 20:1 (Grades 1 and up) and a 10:1 ratio (Grades TK/K) student to staff ratio at each site

Additional Responsibilities

  • May also be required to participate in special programs / events.

RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with Club staff, Program Volunteers, Club members, and Supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions, instruct; and advise/counsel.

External: Maintain contact with external community groups, schools, member parents, and key community stakeholders to promote positive aspects of the club and program, receive feedback, and assist in addressing concerns.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The position requires the physical ability to lead and participate in active sports and games with children, monitor behavior requiring physical separation and participate in curriculum activities and housekeeping responsibilities.
  • Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. Minimum AA Degree or Passing District Equivalency Exam
  • California Teaching Credential Preferred
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in planning and implementing youth programs
  • Knowledge of and ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth
  • Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment
  • Ability to deal with the general public and parental concerns
  • Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems
  • Ability to recruit, train, supervise, and motivate staff
  • Obtain mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications
  • Pass background check and fingerprinting
  • Possess a valid state driver’s license
  • Clean tuberculosis test
