Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise children during afterschool hours, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment.
- Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that promote social skills, creativity, physical activity, and emotional growth.
- Manage classroom behavior through positive reinforcement, behavior management techniques, and clear expectations.
- Collaborate with parents, guardians, and staff to support each child's individual needs and developmental goals.
- Maintain accurate attendance records, activity logs, and safety documentation in compliance with licensing standards.
- Provide basic first aid when necessary and respond promptly to any emergencies or behavioral concerns.
- Incorporate elements of special education strategies when needed to support diverse learners and foster inclusive participation.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working with children in daycare, preschool, camp counseling, tutoring, or similar settings is highly preferred.
- Strong classroom management skills with the ability to create a positive learning environment.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education best practices.
- Certification in first aid and CPR is required; additional certifications such as childcare training or special education are a plus.
- Excellent communication skills for working effectively with children, parents, and team members.
- Ability to handle behavioral challenges with patience, empathy, and professionalism.
- Enthusiasm for fostering a nurturing environment that encourages growth through play, arts (theater), sports coaching, or other creative outlets.
