Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise children during afterschool hours, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment.
• Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that promote social skills, creativity, physical activity, and emotional growth.
• Manage classroom behavior through positive reinforcement, behavior management techniques, and clear expectations.
• Collaborate with parents, guardians, and staff to support each child's individual needs and developmental goals.
• Maintain accurate attendance records, activity logs, and safety documentation in compliance with licensing standards.
• Provide basic first aid when necessary and respond promptly to any emergencies or behavioral concerns.
• Incorporate elements of special education strategies when needed to support diverse learners and foster inclusive participation.

Qualifications

• Prior experience working with children in daycare, preschool, camp counseling, tutoring, or similar settings is highly preferred.
• Strong classroom management skills with the ability to create a positive learning environment.
• Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education best practices.
• Certification in first aid and CPR is required; additional certifications such as childcare training or special education are a plus.
• Excellent communication skills for working effectively with children, parents, and team members.
• Ability to handle behavioral challenges with patience, empathy, and professionalism.
• Enthusiasm for fostering a nurturing environment that encourages growth through play, arts (theater), sports coaching, or other creative outlets.
