AGM - Data Governance & Strategy

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Pernod Ricard India has a strong growth agenda.
To fuel the Transformation agenda, and parallel to strong efforts on the digital transformation and data analytics side, a Data Governance team was created. We must set best in class data governance and strategy capabilities to
  • Harvest the potential of data on the full scope of activities of PPRI to make it a business asset
  • Create bridges between Business teams to ensure smooth and sustainable projects
  • Protect the value and quality of this data asset through proper Governance, Methodology & Definitions (in close collaboration with the IT team)
  • Leverage & Roll-Out the Data Governance Capabilities to enable the capitalization and easy access of the knowledge and management of the data quality


CONTEXT

External Context: In AlcoBev categories, we are adding 20 Million new people to the legal drinking age every year. India is the world’s largest whisky market while categories beyond whisky have seen a strong uptake in the last 5 years – Single Malts, Vodka, Gin, Wine, RTD, Mixers etc

.
Complexity of Market: Alcohol is a state subject in India – implying that rules/regulations and pricing is different in each states. This impacts where we manufacture and the subsequent GTM significantly.


Internal Context
: PR India is Pernod Ricard’s largest market in volume and second largest in revenue / profit. It is one of the group’s 4 ‘must win’ markets. We have a strong product portfolio across categories and price points. PRI is growing at fast pace.


Future Outlook:
To leverage the tremendous opportunity that India as a market presents, we need to be more agile in deploying digital solutions. All of this will take laser sharp project management and a constant check to ensure that our strategy is relevant. We need to reach newer consumers and premiumize the buying decisions of the existing ones.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The AGM Data Governance and Strategy will be responsible for setting up the data governance capability, meaning
-Awareness, acculturation & training -> develop the understanding around data governance.
-Data mapping & structure -> create that visibility on the data landscape & flows, structure into domains and families.
-Data organization & operating model -> Identify Data Contributors & Data Owners within Functional teams and collaborate with them to define common definitions & standards
-Data standards, policies, processes -> formalize data standards, policies & processes as rules of the game.
-Data governance tools enablers -> leverage & roll-out metadata & data quality management tools available, and a centralized workspace for data knowledge
  • Actively contribute to Key Digital Programs that require a data governance and quality point-of-view, also be a key point of contact for major Tech changes such as ERP evolution, etc.
  • Utilize deep knowledge of data requirements and build business understanding to resolve data quality challenges including change in the business processes
Also,
  • Define and operationalize governance processes for creation//validation of data, to improve data standards, quality, integrity, and consistency.
  • Improve data acquisition and manage external data vendor relationships which will include overall responsibility for input, prioritization, and deliverables.
  • Own and handle incidents, problems and change requests for the data assets under your ownership
-Foster data stewardship best practices and golden rules in projects of your scope (eg. SFA, Matrix -A&P effectiveness tool-).
  • Actively participate in the global community of data management experts to support the shaping of global Data Management practice in Pernod Ricard.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor or master’s degree in business informatics, Business Administration, or a related field in business with technical knowledge


SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

➢ Good communication and presentation skills for stakeholder management and process analytics
➢ Ability to influence and embark the organization on that journey
➢ Experience in working with data structures on an enterprise level, ideally supported by general knowledge of technical foundations of data management and data science
➢ A self-starter, independent, with self-sufficient working capability
➢ Experience with data profiling, data cleansing, fuzzy matching would be a plus.
➢ Technical skills: SQL, strong Excel (i.e., V-lookup), Power BI preferred, reporting query tools, Tableau, MicroStrategy
➢ Entrepreneurial appetite and resilience as setting up a new team and new practices


EXPERIENCE

➢ 10+ years of experience in Master Data Management (MDM), Data Governance, and Data Quality domains, and MDM tools. Expertise with data product hierarchies, data structures, data mapping.
➢ Min. 5 + years of experience in managing data vendors/data providers.
