Job Summary:

We are seeking a knowledgeable and field-oriented Agriculturist to support agricultural development activities in the Cholistan Mauj Garh region. The role focuses on improving crop productivity, supporting desert farming practices, guiding local communities, and implementing climate-resilient agricultural techniques suited for arid zones. The candidate must be comfortable working in remote desert environments and engaging closely with local farmers, herders, and community groups.

Key Responsibilities:Field Agriculture & Crop Management

• Guide farmers on suitable crop varieties for desert soil and water-scarce conditions.
• Implement drought-resistant farming techniques and climate-smart agriculture practices.
• Conduct field assessments, soil checks, and monitor crop growth stages.
• Support plantation, nursery development, fodder production, and improved desert agriculture models.

Community Engagement & Training

• Conduct awareness sessions for local communities on crop management, water conservation, and soil improvement.
• Provide practical demonstrations for sustainable agricultural methods.
• Coordinate with local farmers, community leaders, and herders in the Mauj Garh area.

Resource & Water Management

• Recommend efficient irrigation techniques (drip irrigation, rainwater harvesting, solar tubewells, etc.).
• Identify water availability challenges and propose sustainable solutions suitable for Cholistan conditions.
• Assist in livestock–crop integration and fodder planning for desert animals.

Project Implementation & Support

• Assist agricultural development projects run by the government, NGOs, or private organizations.
• Monitor progress of field activities and ensure timely execution.
• Maintain records of field visits, crop performance, trainings, and community interactions.

Research & Development

• Identify new opportunities for desert agriculture such as medicinal plants, drought-tolerant species, and native fodder crops.
• Conduct trials on innovative farming methods adaptable to Cholistan’s climate.
• Share periodic reports and recommendations with senior management.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• BSc/MSc in Agriculture, Agronomy, Soil Science, Horticulture, or related field.
• Field experience in arid-zone agriculture preferred.
• Strong knowledge of drought-resistant crops and sustainable desert farming practices.
• Ability to work independently in remote desert conditions.
• Good communication skills with understanding of local culture.
• Physically fit and willing to conduct regular field visits.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with community-based agriculture programs.
• Knowledge of Cholistan’s soil, climate, and desert ecology.
• Problem-solving abilities and hands-on field expertise.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Rs45,000.00 - Rs80,000.00 per month
