Job Summary:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and field-oriented Agriculturist to support agricultural development activities in the Cholistan Mauj Garh region. The role focuses on improving crop productivity, supporting desert farming practices, guiding local communities, and implementing climate-resilient agricultural techniques suited for arid zones. The candidate must be comfortable working in remote desert environments and engaging closely with local farmers, herders, and community groups.
Key Responsibilities:Field Agriculture & Crop Management
- Guide farmers on suitable crop varieties for desert soil and water-scarce conditions.
- Implement drought-resistant farming techniques and climate-smart agriculture practices.
- Conduct field assessments, soil checks, and monitor crop growth stages.
- Support plantation, nursery development, fodder production, and improved desert agriculture models.
Community Engagement & Training
- Conduct awareness sessions for local communities on crop management, water conservation, and soil improvement.
- Provide practical demonstrations for sustainable agricultural methods.
- Coordinate with local farmers, community leaders, and herders in the Mauj Garh area.
Resource & Water Management
- Recommend efficient irrigation techniques (drip irrigation, rainwater harvesting, solar tubewells, etc.).
- Identify water availability challenges and propose sustainable solutions suitable for Cholistan conditions.
- Assist in livestock–crop integration and fodder planning for desert animals.
Project Implementation & Support
- Assist agricultural development projects run by the government, NGOs, or private organizations.
- Monitor progress of field activities and ensure timely execution.
- Maintain records of field visits, crop performance, trainings, and community interactions.
Research & Development
- Identify new opportunities for desert agriculture such as medicinal plants, drought-tolerant species, and native fodder crops.
- Conduct trials on innovative farming methods adaptable to Cholistan’s climate.
- Share periodic reports and recommendations with senior management.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- BSc/MSc in Agriculture, Agronomy, Soil Science, Horticulture, or related field.
- Field experience in arid-zone agriculture preferred.
- Strong knowledge of drought-resistant crops and sustainable desert farming practices.
- Ability to work independently in remote desert conditions.
- Good communication skills with understanding of local culture.
- Physically fit and willing to conduct regular field visits.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with community-based agriculture programs.
- Knowledge of Cholistan’s soil, climate, and desert ecology.
- Problem-solving abilities and hands-on field expertise.

Pay: Rs45,000.00 - Rs80,000.00 per month
