AI & Automation Engineer

Description:

The AI & Automation Associate supports Boyer’s growing AI and automation practice — researching, prototyping, and developing Copilot Studio agents, Power Platform automations, and Azure AI-powered solutions in support of our Microsoft Dynamics 365 customer base. This is a developer-track role focused on hands-on R&D work, with structured learning and certification pathways to grow into the AI & Automation Engineer role over ~18 months. The Associate reports directly to the VP of Technology and works alongside Boyer’s pre-sales team to deliver internal proofs-of-concept and demo assets.

Core Responsibilities

  • R&D — 50% · Stay hands-on with the Microsoft AI ecosystem — Copilot, Copilot Studio, Cowork, Azure AI Foundry, and emerging Microsoft AI capabilities. Build proofs-of-concept, evaluate new features, prototype agents and automations, and translate Microsoft’s AI roadmap into Boyer-ready patterns, accelerators, and demo assets.
  • Demo Development — 25% · Build and maintain demo environments and reusable demo assets that pre-sales use with prospects. Work toward customer-facing demo delivery over time — shadow live demos, practice internally, and progressively ramp into a co-presenter role as proficiency develops.
  • Continuous Learning — 15% · Pursue Microsoft certifications on a defined pathway. Complete Microsoft Learn labs. Stay current on Copilot Studio and Azure AI releases.
  • Internal Enablement Contribution — 10% · Document patterns from R&D work and contribute to Boyer’s internal AI & automation knowledge base.
Requirements:
  • 3–5 years of professional experience building solutions on the Microsoft cloud
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred — equivalent experience OK
  • Experience in a Microsoft partner / consulting environment
  • Production experience with Microsoft Copilot Studio — has shipped at least one agent/copilot to real users
  • Working knowledge of Azure AI Foundry / Azure OpenAI — has built or extended an Azure-hosted model solution
  • Strong REST API and integration experience — custom connectors, auth patterns, JSON payloads
  • Comfortable presenting to executive and technical audiences — can lead a live demo or discovery without a safety net
  • Familiarity with RAG patterns, prompt engineering, and grounding strategies
  • Willingness to pursue Microsoft certifications on an ongoing basis
  • Travel for client engagements and Microsoft partner events as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience integrating Copilot/AI solutions with Dynamics 365 Business Central or D365 CRM
  • Relevant Microsoft AI certifications
  • Demonstrated public speaking / thought leadership — conference talks, webinars, podcasts, user-group presentations, LinkedIn presence, blog/published content
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, Dataverse, and the broader Microsoft data platform
  • Existing relationships within the Microsoft field, MVP community, or partner ecosystem
