Job Summary:
The Air Freight Pricing & Operations Officer is responsible for managing all activities related to air freight pricing, quotations, carrier negotiations, and operations execution for import and export shipments. This role ensures competitive pricing, operational accuracy, compliance with IATA and customs regulations, and superior customer service.
The position demands strong coordination with airlines, GSA/CSA partners, overseas agents, and internal sales teams to deliver cost-efficient and reliable air freight solutions across global routes.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Pricing & Rate Management
· Negotiate air freight rates and space allocations with airlines, GSAs (General Sales Agents), and consolidators.
· Prepare competitive quotations for customers, sales, and overseas partners within agreed timelines.
· Analyze market trends, fuel surcharges, seasonal capacity, and carrier promotions to maintain competitiveness.
· Maintain and update the air freight rate database and tariff structures for all trade lanes.
· Review profitability of air freight lanes and recommend adjustments to management.
2. Operations Management
· Coordinate and manage air export and import operations from booking to final delivery.
· Liaise with airlines, ground handling agents, customs brokers, and warehouse teams to ensure smooth cargo flow.
· Verify and prepare all documentation including Air Waybill (AWB), invoices, packing lists, and manifest reports.
· Monitor shipments to ensure on-time uplift, tracking, and delivery while maintaining proactive communication with clients.
· Handle consolidation and deconsolidation operations for scheduled and ad-hoc shipments.
3. Documentation & Compliance
· Ensure all air freight transactions comply with IATA, customs, and civil aviation regulations.
· Coordinate with the IATA Cargo Accounts Settlement Systems (CASS) for financial and billing accuracy.
· Verify export/import documentation and coordinate with customers to meet destination country requirements.
· Maintain proper filing and record-keeping of all air freight shipments for audit and compliance purposes.
4. Customer & Agent Coordination
· Work closely with the sales team to support client inquiries, rate requests, and bid/tender submissions.
· Liaise with overseas partners and global agents for routing, pricing, and shipment execution.
· Provide customers with proactive shipment status updates and resolve operational or documentation issues promptly.
· Develop and maintain long-term relationships with clients through professional communication and reliability.
5. Financial & Performance Management
· Monitor freight costs, profitability, and billing accuracy for each shipment.
· Ensure timely invoicing, cost posting, and vendor bill verification.
· Support the finance department in resolving rate discrepancies and credit control.
· Provide management reports on volume, yield, and cost performance.
Qualifications & Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or Aviation Studies.
· Minimum 3–5 years of experience in Air Freight Operations and Pricing within an IATA-licensed freight forwarding company.
· Strong understanding of airline cargo procedures, consolidation, and international trade regulations.
· Hands-on experience with IATA documentation, Cargo-IMP codes, and CASS procedures.
· Familiarity with freight management systems (e.g., CargoWise, GLS, or similar) and MS Office tools.
Skills & Competencies:
· Excellent negotiation and analytical skills for rate management.
· Strong operational and documentation knowledge of air cargo handling.
· Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
· Effective communication and coordination skills with clients and agents.
· Attention to detail with strong organizational and problem-solving ability.
· Knowledge of Incoterms, HS Codes, and customs procedures.
