Aircraft Engineer – B2

A. Job Purpose

Work with certifying staff to complete designated maintenance tasks in both Line and Base Maintenance, ensuring all maintenance activities are performed correctly and in accordance with applicable standards. As a B2 Licensed Aircraft Engineer, the role involves close collaboration with engineers and technicians, providing technical expertise in the maintenance and repair of aircraft avionics and electrical systems. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting, performing routine maintenance, and conducting complex inspections to meet regulatory requirements and operational standards.

B. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure maintenance tasks are carried out safely and efficiently.
  • Supervise technicians and operatives in the performance of their duties.
  • Ensure all tasks are completed in accordance with approved standards and procedures.
  • Complete maintenance documentation for assigned tasks.
  • Advise supervisory staff of any concerns relating to defects, safety, or procedures.
  • Ensure secondary duties are carried out safely and that good housekeeping standards are maintained in assigned areas.
  • Ensure all equipment used during maintenance is returned to designated areas upon completion of tasks.
  • Carry out additional duties as requested by supervisory staff.
  • Issue certifications within the scope of held authorisations and in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Actively promote and encourage flight safety in daily activities.
  • Act as a supervisor when required or requested.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the direct Supervisor.

C. Educational Requirement

A Higher Diploma or Technical–Vocational qualification in a relevant technical discipline is required. Completion of an approved aircraft maintenance technical course is essential.

D. Experience Required

A minimum of five (5) years of relevant aircraft maintenance experience in a similar role is required.

E. Certification / Knowledge / Competencies

  • Holder of a Licensed Aircraft Engineer (B2), A&C ICAO Type II licence or equivalent
  • Relevant aircraft Type Rating
  • QCAR licence

F. Authorisation

  • Recommend work schedules for technicians
  • Recommend safety procedures
  • Allocate work duties in accordance with qualifications and authorisations
