Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree. Four years of progressively responsible managerial experience in risk assessment, safety management, and regulatory compliance, to include supervisory experience are required. Additional progressively responsible managerial experience in risk assessment, safety management, and regulatory compliance, to include supervisory experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Must possess a valid Driver s License.

The Miami‑Dade Aviation Department (MDAD) is seeking to fill a subject matter expert for safety related matters involving all airfield areas regulated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 139, non-movement areas commercial ramp, and baggage areas at Miami International Airport (MIA). This highly responsible position will entail developing and implementing safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with FAA Part 139 regulatory requirements and best practices for Aviation Safety, conducting Safety Risk Assessments and Hazard Analyses to identify potential safety issues, developing mitigation strategies, monitoring and evaluating safety performance and trends to identify areas for improvement, managing proactive measures to prevent accidents or incidents, providing safety trainings to internal and external employees, managing safety hazard reporting and investigation processes, and collaborating with other airports and internal stakeholders to integrate safety procedures.

Applicants qualifying for employment with the Miami-Dade Aviation Department will be subject to extensive security screening, including but not limited to fingerprint checks, employment verification, and other such procedures as may be mandated by federal law. The security clearance required by federal law is a continuing condition of employment.
