Citizens Medical Response is now hiring Ambulance Dispatch Specialists!
We are seeking enthusiastic, hardworking, and dedicated individuals to join our growing team.
Our Dispatch Specialists are expected to:
- Work as a team player—EMS is a team effort, and dispatch plays a vital role in system readiness and quality assurance.
- Remain flexible, as work shift schedules may vary due to the nature of the business.
- Coordinate daily work assignments and activities for EMTs.
- Conduct themselves in a professional, courteous, and helpful manner at all times when interacting with patients, coworkers, supervisors, and the public.
- Receive, prioritize, and dispatch calls using our Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.
- Provide exceptional customer service to medical facilities, the public, and our EMTs.
- Accurately receive, document, and review transport details, patient information, and billing data.
- Maintain a professional demeanor both in the office and on all phone communications.
- Dispatch ambulances for scheduled transports while ensuring the appropriate level of medical care.
- Support both sending and receiving facilities to ensure smooth and timely patient transfers.
- Communicate promptly with a Supervisor regarding any issues or concerns that arise during the shift.
- Obtain pre-transport insurance authorizations when required to support timely payment of services.
- Understand medical insurance processes—knowledge of different insurances, authorizations, and coverage requirements is strongly preferred.
Training Schedule:
Two-week training program
- 7 days of morning shifts
- 3 days of night shifts
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Dispatcher experience in a related field (EMS/clinical background preferred)
- Tech-savvy with experience using Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) software
- Fast and accurate typing with strong data entry skills
- Knowledge of emergency procedures and response guidelines
- Proficient in English (oral and written)
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
- Strong communication skills and active listening abilities
- Sound judgment and critical thinking
- Preferred: Insurance background with understanding of medical insurance processes (authorizations, coverage types, and payer requirements)
