Job Description and Duties

The Board of Barbering and Cosmetology is currently recruiting for an Analyst I or Analyst II to investigate consumer complaints and manage complaint cases that have been referred to the Attorney General's Office.

Working Conditions

The Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) protects and serves California consumers while ensuring a competent and fair marketplace. DCA educates consumers and protects professionals from unfair competition by unlicensed practitioners.

The California State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology is responsible for licensing cosmetologists, barbers, hairstylists, manicurists, estheticians, and electrologists, as well as the establishments where their services are performed. The Board employs a large and diverse team of technicians, field inspectors, investigators, analysts, and managers. Special Requirements

Conflict of Interest: This position is subject to Title 16, section 3830 of the California Code of Regulations, the Department of Consumer Affairs' Conflict of Interest Regulations. The incumbent is required to submit a Statement of Economic Interests (Form 700) within 30 days of assuming office, annually by April 1, and within 30 days of leaving office.
