Position Description

Advertised Job Summary
The Analytics and Data Manager advances student success initiatives by supporting the Graduation and Retention Network (GARNET), the First-Generation Center (FGC), and for the Office of the Provost as requested. This role oversees data collection, management, and analysis to guide strategic decision-making and continuous improvement. The manager leads data analysis efforts, monitors key performance indicators, and researches trends to identify opportunities for improving graduation and retention outcomes, including for first-generation students. Additionally, the position coordinates course offerings for Winter Session and advises academic departments on scheduling for special part-of-term courses including the Summer Semester.

Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 3 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.

Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials

Preferred Qualifications
Prefer Microsoft Access experience/proficiency, data collection/database experience and demonstrated customer service skills. Prior experience working in a higher education environment with academic course registration processes.

  • Excellent organizational skills with an ability to compose, prepare and edit correspondence, reports and publications with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in work product.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data using various data collection methods and mathematical techniques.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, program coordination, planning and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with frequent interruptions, staying current with fluid receipt of information in varying formats.
  • Excellent customer service and human relations skills, especially the ability to work with other office members to accomplish complex tasks.

  • Knowledge of general office practices/procedures and computing hardware/software resources.

Prepares requested information, ad hoc reports, and other data to support decision making. Utilizes predictive analytics to forecast student retention and time-to-degree outcomes, and recommends data-informed solutions. Identifies campus partners and resources to support GARNET and FGC in serving student populations, such as first-generation students. Collects and analyzes data to anticipate student needs and develop initiatives that promote timely graduation. Maintains communication with departments to monitor data irregularities. Oversees the management of unit-level data, including but not limited to enrollment data and the tracking of students enrolled in departmental programs for graduation and retention details.

Collaborates with campus stakeholders to identify data needs, streamline workflows, and generate actionable insights that inform decision-making and promote continuous improvement across academic and co-curricular programs.

Responsible for the analysis of GARNET programs and the FGC and its initiatives. Utilize data visual analytics platforms, such as Tableau Software, to report and analyze large datasets and provide graphical representations of data to demonstrate trends and visually share insights.

Directs department scheduling requests to ensure accurate course listings, in collaboration with multiple academic units. Responsible for establishing timelines in advance of term scheduling activities. Navigates processes to provide consistent updates to appropriate parties to ensure deadlines are met by all GARNET and FGC personnel. Oversees schedule proofing process for proactive discovery and resolution. Makes recommendations on course scheduling to academic departments based on student demand for the Summer Semester, Winter Session, and special part of terms.
