Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated tutor to join our team and provide specialized instruction in AP Pre-calculus and Calculus AB-BC. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mathematics, excellent communication skills, and a passion for teaching.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions with high school students preparing for AP Pre-calculus and Calculus AB-BC exams.
- Develop personalized lesson plans and teaching materials tailored to the individual needs and learning styles of each student.
- Cover topics included in the AP Pre-calculus curriculum, such as functions, trigonometry, polynomial and rational functions, exponential and logarithmic functions, and sequences and series.
- Teach concepts and techniques relevant to AP Calculus AB-BC, including limits, derivatives, integrals, differential equations, and applications of calculus.
- Clarify complex mathematical concepts and procedures, using visual aids, manipulatives, and interactive examples to enhance understanding.
- Assist students in solving mathematical problems, applying mathematical reasoning, and interpreting mathematical models and data.
- Offer strategies for approaching multiple-choice questions and free-response problems on the AP exams, focusing on content mastery and test-taking techniques.
- Monitor students' progress and track their performance through regular assessments, quizzes, and practice exams.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Strong understanding of fundamental mathematical concepts, theories, and applications.
- Previous teaching or tutoring experience, particularly in AP Pre-calculus and/or Calculus AB-BC.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and engage students effectively.
- Enthusiasm for teaching and a genuine interest in helping students succeed academically.
- Familiarity with the AP exam format, content, and scoring guidelines for Pre-calculus and Calculus AB-BC
- Proficiency in using educational technology and online resources for remote tutoring sessions (Zoom, Google Classroom, etc.).
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and academic backgrounds.
Schedule:
Flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, based on students' availability and scheduling needs. Part-time position with the potential for additional hours during peak periods (e.g., exam season).
Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
