Applied AI Systems Engineer (Remote)

We’re a B-Corp certified full-service marketing agency based in Vancouver, Canada. We specialize in performance-driven marketing for North American clients across lead generation and e-commerce.

We are investing heavily in internal AI systems to improve how our teams operate, deliver work, and scale. Our goal is to automate high-impact delivery workflows and evolve those systems into future productized offerings.

We’re looking for an Applied AI Systems Engineer to help build this foundation.

Role Overview

This role focuses on building internal AI-powered workflows that automate processes across marketing, operations, and strategy.

You’ll work directly with leadership to design and implement production-ready automation systems — not experiments — that transform data, research, and inputs into structured outputs and workflows.

This is a hands-on builder role for someone comfortable working with APIs, LLMs, and backend systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Build AI-powered workflow systems that support marketing delivery and operations
• Design and implement pipelines using LLMs, APIs, and internal data sources
• Develop structured output systems from unstructured inputs (documents, transcripts, research, etc.)
• Implement retrieval-based systems and knowledge ingestion pipelines
• Integrate AI tools with internal platforms, documents, and external services
• Improve automation reliability, performance, and output quality
• Support development of internal tools that may later evolve into productized features
• Collaborate directly with leadership on automation architecture and execution

Ideal Profile

• 3–6+ years experience in backend, full-stack, or automation engineering
• Strong TypeScript or Python skills (ideally both)
• Experience deploying applications using Vercel or similar serverless platforms
• Experience working with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Claude, etc.)
• Experience building AI-powered tools or workflow systems
• Familiarity with embeddings, vector databases, or retrieval workflows
• Strong problem-solving ability and systems thinking
• Comfortable working in fast-moving environments with evolving requirements

Nice to Have

• Experience with Next.js or serverless architectures
• Experience with LangChain, LlamaIndex, or similar frameworks
• Experience with automation tools (n8n, Make, Zapier) in combination with custom code
• Experience building internal tools that later evolved into reusable systems or products
• Startup or agency experience

Tech Environment

Our current stack includes serverless deployment environments (Vercel), modern JavaScript/TypeScript tooling, and AI platforms such as OpenAI and Claude. You should be comfortable building and shipping within this ecosystem.

Seniority

This is an individual contributor role focused on execution and building real systems.

You’ll work closely with leadership to translate operational needs into automation tools and internal platforms.
