Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Appointment Scheduler to join our healthcare team. Responsibilities

  • Schedule patient appointments accurately using various Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, and others.
  • Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance eligibility checks to facilitate smooth appointment processes.
  • Manage appointment changes, cancellations, and rescheduling requests with professionalism and efficiency.
  • Provide excellent patient service by answering phone inquiries with proper phone etiquette and guiding patients through scheduling procedures.
  • Maintain detailed documentation review of patient records, care plans, and medical histories to ensure accurate scheduling and record keeping.
  • Coordinate with clinical staff to optimize daily schedules, balancing provider availability and patient needs.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information during all scheduling activities.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in medical scheduling, front desk operations, or medical administrative support within a healthcare setting.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or similar platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and insurance verification processes.
  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and office management software like Eaglesoft or Dentrix preferred.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
  • Prior clinic or dental office experience is highly desirable, along with familiarity with HIPAA compliance standards.
  • Strong communication skills coupled with professional phone etiquette and typing speed (10 key typing experience preferred).
