Role: Apprentice

AtkinsRéalis has an opportunity for an Apprentice to join the Rivers, Dams, Maritime & Coastal (RDMC) Design Team in Bangalore / Mumbai. The RDMC team forms part of the infrastructure (Environmental and Water Management) group within AtkinsRéalis’ Water & Environment business. We deliver projects for both UK and international clients, typically in the following areas:

  • Flood defence schemes.
  • Hydraulic structures (e.g., dams, weirs, gates).
  • Ports and maritime infrastructure.

As a member of this team, you will be exposed to a broad range of engineering disciplines including river and coastal engineering, hydrology and hydraulics, and structural detailing.

The ideal candidate for this role will need to be able to demonstrate the following level of skills and experience:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent to M.Tech Structures preferred.
  • Basic understanding of river and coastal engineering, including flood defence design and refurbishment of hydraulic structures.
  • Familiarity with reinforced concrete and steelwork design principles.
  • Awareness of health and safety considerations in design and construction.
  • Understanding of UK health and safety legislation (e.g., CDM Regulations 2015) is desirable.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and prepare basic sketches.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Good presentational skill.
  • Managing own time.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to evolving project needs.
  • Ability to follow quality procedures and maintain high standards in work.
