Under general supervision in a medical office setting, provides accurate and timely accounts receivable follow up and corrected claims resubmission.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all A/R duties including but not limited to:
- Printing & working A/R report
- Call on unpaid accounts (insurance side).
- Familiarity with Insurance Portals
- Print claims, attach documents and complete inquiries (mailing and faxing to carriers)
- Responsible for account documentation
- Scan documents in appeal portion of account
- Assume responsibility for follow up on all outstanding accounts receivable.
- Prepare and submit provider inquiries and corrected claims to carriers for payment.
- Gathering and forwarding the carrier information for additional information necessary for claims payment.
- Responsible to maintain accurate and up to date system notes referencing A/R and outstanding claims.
- Assist patients in understanding their ledger, carrier payments and patient responsibility when called upon.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of work for review by department manager
- Perform non-essential duties as directed.
Qualifications:
- 2-5 years medical billing experience in a medical billing with the duties mentioned above.
- Extensive EMR experience, preferably MEDENT.
- Knowledge of medical insurances and claim correction requirements.
- Knowledge of WNY Healthenet, Connex, EPaces, Avality, and others.
- Familiarity with MCR and MCD Resubmission.
- Familiarity of electronic re-submissions.
- Microsoft office Knowledge, especially Excel and Outlook.
- Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have good organizational skills.
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and composure when handling difficult clients/stressful situations.
