Duties
- Develop and implement comprehensive art curricula that align with educational standards and promote creativity.
- Teach various art forms, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and digital media.
- Utilize learning technology to enhance the educational experience and engage students in their artistic pursuits.
- Manage classroom dynamics effectively to create a safe and productive learning environment.
- Provide individualized support to students with special needs, including those on the autism spectrum.
- Conduct assessments and standardized testing to evaluate student progress in art education.
- Mentor students, encouraging their artistic growth while fostering self-confidence and critical thinking skills.
- Collaborate with other educators to integrate art into broader educational themes, including literacy education and math concepts.
- Maintain an organized classroom space that showcases student artwork and promotes an appreciation for the arts.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Art Education or related field; teaching certification preferred.
- Proven experience working with children in an educational setting, preferably with classroom experience in art instruction.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Familiarity with curriculum development, lesson planning, and behavior management strategies.
- Experience with early childhood education principles and childhood development theories is advantageous.
- Knowledge of Montessori methods or private school experience is a plus.
- Proficiency in proofreading and writing skills for creating instructional materials and reports.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and needs.
