The Role
We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and internationally recognized law firm with a strong regional presence. The firm is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join its Dubai Finance team. This role supports the day-to-day finance operations of the office and works closely with the Financial Controller within a professional services environment, ensuring accurate financial processing and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities: 1. Manage the end-to-end accounts payable cycle, including preparation of bank payments 2. Process employee expense claims 3. Perform cashiering duties, including posting receipts and settling disbursements promptly upon receipt of client funds 4. Complete bank reconciliations and assist with cash flow reporting 5. Post month-end journals and maintain balance sheet reconciliations 6. Support month-end billing postings, ensuring accurate VAT treatment and compliance 7. Assist with the preparation and filing of quarterly VAT returns 8. Process payroll in accordance with UAE WPS regulations 9. Support compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal controls 10. Assist with audit processes, budgeting, and reforecasting 11. Act as a point of contact for finance-related queries from fee earners and support staff
Requirements
1. Hands-on experience in accounts payable and general ledger processes within a law firm or professional services environment 2. Studying towards or part-qualified ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or equivalent 3. Strong working knowledge of UAE VAT legislation and banking systems 4. Experience processing payroll in line with UAE WPS regulations 5. Experience with Aderant and Chrome River is preferred 6. Strong Excel skills 7. Ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced professional services environment 8. Strong communication skills with the confidence to liaise with fee earners and senior stakeholders 9. High level of accuracy, organisation, and professionalism
