At a Glance:


The Assistant Accountant is responsible for providing a wide range of accounting and administration support to the Finance & Administration Department and the Country/Operations Manager. The role is to support the UAE entities (which are currently non-operational, but the entities are kept alive where statutory requirements are also to be met) and MECK regional overhead structure.

What you will do:


  • Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with the Group Management Systems Policies and Procedures and Anti Bribery Policy with special focus on Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental issues and where required as Action Party, close out actions in a timely manner.
  • Familiarise with the Group Safety Policy and take all reasonable care to ensure the health and safety of yourself and people likely to be affected by your actions or omissions. Ensure compliance with all relevant Group Management Systems & Procedures related to Quality and to client procedure where applicable.
  • Financial data preparation and maintenance of books of accounts as per our Accounting Policies, Procedures and Worldwide standards and Iraqi UAS.
  • Cash flow forecasting in TM5 and management of cashflow.
  • Bank payments, accounting and reconciliation.
  • Handling petty cash, monthly cash and reconciliation.
  • Accounts Payable, vendor invoice posting and reconciliation.
  • Intercompany accounting and reconciliation.
  • Maintaining tracker for capital expenditure and monthly reporting on cash flow.
  • Maintaining tracker for official and residential leases, renewal upon expiry and periodical reporting.
  • Preparation of files for the settlement of social security costs.
  • Checking and forwarding for approval of the monthly local payroll sheets prepared by the HR Team.
  • Preparation of Balance Sheet Reconciliations in Blackline.
  • Accounts Receivable – Credit control.
  • Maintaining records and periodical renewal of all the insurance policies.
  • Preparation and payment of monthly VAT returns.
  • Updating, reporting and reconciliation of IFRS 16 leases in Tagetik.
  • Calculation of month end provisions for rig costs, employee end of service balances, employee off-time balances, travel etc.
  • Ensure that all financial transactions are conducted in line with the country authorization matrix.
  • Corporate income tax reporting and filing of return.
  • Spearhead project actions to close dormant UAE entities including tax and admin matters in addition to Finance


What you need:


  • Postgraduate in Financial Accounting
  • Knowledge in the capacity of an Accountant capable of performing all the aspects of accounting and bookkeeping, reporting, treasury (cash & bank), cashflow forecasting, accounts payable & receivable, balance sheet reconciliations, direct & indirect taxation.
  • Knowledge in indirect and taxation preferred.
