Assistant Accounts Officer

The Assistant Tax Accountant is responsible for providing essential administrative and technical support to the Senior Tax Manager or Tax Advisor. This role ensures all tax-related documentation and financial data are accurately collected, processed, and organized to facilitate timely compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations.

Gathering and Organizing Data: Collect and organize all financial documentation (e.g., W-2s, 1099s, invoices, receipts, and bank statements) from clients or internal departments.

Data Entry: Accurately input financial data into tax preparation software (e.g., Lacerte, ProConnect, or in-house ERP systems) and supporting Excel workpapers.

File Maintenance: Maintain and update tax files, workpapers, and client correspondence to ensure all records are complete and audit-ready.

Tax Preparation Support

Basic Calculations: Assist in basic tax calculations, including estimating deductions, credits, and capital gains/losses under direct supervision.

Return Assembly: Assemble and review draft tax returns (Individual, Corporate, Sales Tax/VAT) for completeness before submission to senior staff for final review.

Compliance Checks: Perform initial checks on documentation for accuracy and completeness to ensure compliance with basic tax requirements.

Administrative & Compliance Correspondence: Assist in preparing and sending routine correspondence to tax authorities (e.g., the IRS or HMRC) and managing follow-ups

.Deadline Monitoring: Maintain a clear schedule of all tax deadlines (quarterly estimates, extensions, annual filings) and ensure supporting data is ready ahead of schedule.

Research: Conduct basic tax research on specific issues or new legislative changes and summarize findings for the senior tax team.

Qualifications

  • Education: A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration is highly preferred, or current enrollment in an accounting qualification program (e.g., AAT, ACCA, CPA track).
  • Experience: Previous experience (e.g., 6 months to 1 year) in an accounting, bookkeeping, or administrative finance role is beneficial but often not mandatory.

Key Skills

  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables), and familiarity with accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, Xero) and tax preparation tools.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional organizational skills and a meticulous eye for detail and numbers to prevent errors in documentation.
  • Analytical: Strong numeracy and the ability to analyze and reconcile financial data efficiently.
  • Communication: Clear written and verbal communication skills for liaising with colleagues and, occasionally, clients to gather required information

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Rs40,000.00 - Rs45,000.00 per month
