Overview

The Assistant Buyer will assist the Buyer in pre-market analysis and preparation, in-market analysis and buy upkeep and post-market order entry and order upkeep.

Responsibilities

• Execute weekly reports on sales, seasonal hindsight and ad-hoc reporting
• Extensive trend research and competitive shopping to help identify new products and opportunities
• Fundamental understanding of the statistical components of the business (IMU%, MD%, GM%, sell-thru, WOS) and Open to Buy
• Coordinate and manage sample tracking; manage the product & order flow according to business targets
• Identify regional opportunities by working with key partners
• Merchandise planning - tailor the merchandise plan by product type and by price point
• Coordinate appointments and correspondence with vendors
• Assist with data entry including purchase orders into merchandise management system
• Constant orderbook maintenance in exchange with the vendors, as well as the merchandising and planning & allocation teams
• Exchange with logistics department to support with fast processing of deliveries
• Coordination, Tracking and communication of product releases & campaigns
• Markdown & Return management

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university
• 3+ year retail buying experience required
• Strong knowledge of Excel, working knowledge of all other Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to prioritize tasks to balance the immediate and long-term needs of the business with a high sense of urgency
• Excellent attention to detail, highly accurate data entry at rapid pace
• Strong organizational skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision

Special Requirements

• Occasional market travel with buyers to visit store locations, vendors and attend trade shows
