Scandinavian Designs - Dania Furniture is looking for an Assistant Buyer!

Position Details
  • Manage product forecasting for assigned vendors and product categories including and not limited to:
    • Vendor/SKU level forecasting in Buy Plan Tool.
    • Performs order placement, revisions, and invoicing.
    • Monitors vendor shipping schedules and container bookings to ensuring timely delivery of purchase orders.
  • Responsible for new item opening order projections.
  • Continuously review sales performance for assigned SKUs/categories to understand trends in the business, developing assortment adds and drops to maximize sales and product positioning.
  • Evaluate new potential product adds from new and existing suppliers according to price, quality etc. and determines the best options for the assortment to present to leadership in buy strategy meetings for decision making.
  • Responsible for all retail pricing adjustments.
  • Correct customer reviews, feedback from General Managers, Store Managers and Sales staff on matters including returns and/or quality issues.
  • Proactively address issues with vendors/DCs to prevent future problems.
  • Understand and continuously monitor modern furniture segment for product trends and presents findings and ideas to leadership.
  • Identify assortment needs based on sales data analysis and actively sources assortment voids.
  • Run sales data reports and presents findings to leadership.
  • Travel to factories and trade shows to source and develop new product based on predefined goals.
  • Identify changes in consumer behavior and proactively fine tunes strategies based on current trends.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with suppliers, team members, leadership and cross functional partners in stores, ecommerce, distribution centers, creative, marketing, accounting, and other areas of the business.
  • Supports web and creative teams by collecting product renderings, photography etc.
  • Provide direction to creative for product copy execution and outline photography to best highlight product features.
  • Identify needed process improvements and project manage initiatives to solve them.
  • Accurately follow processes and procedures in place.
  • Mentors associate and assistant buyer/planners working to train and develop skill sets of teammates.
  • Perform other special projects or duties when required.
Who You Are
  • Someone who treats all tasks with a sense of urgency and meets deadlines provided by leadership, the team and business needs.
  • Passionate about furniture with an eye for spotting trends in the marketplace.
  • Able to attend buying trips as needed and travel to stores when required.
  • Actively work to find solutions for problems and streamline processes to optimize workflow.
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to leadership and other members of the organization when needed.
  • Take ownership over their assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills in Word and extensive use of Excel.
  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
  • Prolonged sitting, standing, moderate reaching and occasional lifting up to 30 lbs.
  • Occasional overtime and weekend work and travel to other locations.
  • Our positions require successfully completing the pre-employment background check and signing a nondisclosure agreement.
Education:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in business, merchandising or 1-2 years of equivalent experience.
