Key Responsibilities: The Pillars of Your Success
You will be the end-to-end owner of your categories, spanning strategy, finance, procurement, and market execution.
A. Strategy & P&L Ownership:
- Drive Revenue & Budget: Own the category's financial performance, including budget development, revenue targets, and profitability (P&L).
- Forecasting & Inventory: Make sophisticated forecasts for product demand to ensure high availability and inventory sustainability while minimizing waste.
- Long-Term Planning: Devise and implement long-term development strategies to capture market share and category growth.
B. Procurement & Vendor Management:
- Negotiation: Lead complex margin discussions and negotiations with local and international vendors to secure optimal pricing, terms, and quality of service.
- Relationship Building: Foster trust and long-term relationships with key suppliers to ensure a reliable and cutting-edge product pipeline.
C. Market Insights & Merchandising:
- Trend Analysis: Analyze industry data and consumer insights to identify emerging trends in international foods and adapt the category mix quickly.
- Product Lifecycle: Develop and execute product category positioning strategies to maximize visibility and consumer purchase intent.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Marketing, Merchandising, and Buying teams on competitive pricing, promotional activities, and to develop clear exit strategies for unsuccessful products.
III. Qualifications & Requirements (The Non-Negotiables)
- Education: Full-Time MBA from a premier institute is mandatory.
- Experience: 6+ years of progressive experience in Category Management, Buying, or Strategic Sourcing, preferably within a fast-paced retail or FMCG environment.
- Domain Knowledge: Strong, applied knowledge of Category Management frameworks, marketing principles, and sales strategies.
- Analytical Acumen: Proven ability to analyze complex data (sales, market, consumer insights) and translate it into clear, actionable business strategies and decisions.
- Influence & Leadership: Strong people management, persuasion, and communication skills to effectively manage and influence stakeholders at all organizational levels.
- Technical: Proficient in MS Office, particularly advanced Excel for data modeling and analysis.
