About the Job

The Assistant Chief Engineer, under the direction of the Area Director of Engineering, organizes the maintenance and repairs of the hotel building and plant following the guidelines in the Technical Maintenance Manual.

Key Responsibilities

• Records and logs all meter readings daily and reports irregularities to the Area Director of Engineering.
• Regularly inspects plant rooms and guest areas to identify problems. Liaises with contractors as required.
• Under the direction of the Area Director of Engineering, ensure hotel water systems are properly treated.
• Maintains maintenance logs and records. Analyses data to further energy saving and upkeep of equipment.
• Ensuring the effective operation of all the mechanical and electrical systems and equipment by managing a preventative maintenance program.
• Ensuring the effective financial management of the engineering department by adhering to maintenance budgets, capital works programs and engineering plans. Developing annual budgets based on previous data.
• Should be familiar with energy consumption calculations & savings.
• Building aspects of the hotel, as well as the maintenance of grounds and external facilities.
• Contributing to guest satisfaction standards by ensuring that technical support services quickly address and where possible anticipate, individual needs.
• Ensuring technically competent engineering staff is part of the team by selecting, training, and developing a motivated, well-qualified maintenance team.
• Order day-to-day maintenance purchases in accordance with YPH purchasing policy.
• Under the direction of the Area Director of Engineering, ensure the departmental training plan is implemented.
• Attends such seminars and training courses to further his education as may be necessary.
• Occupational, Health & Safety Responsibilities

About You

• Electrical or Mechanical Engineering graduate/diploma
• Minimum of 3 years of work experience in large organizations or in the hotel and restaurant industry
• Exposure to planning, implementation, and supervision of engineering-related projects
• Knowledgeable in Engineering Safety and Security procedures
• Knowledgeable in MS Office applications
• Ability to communicate decisions and manage conflicting situations
• Ability to manage a diverse team environment
