Summary

The Assistant Clinical Director oversees the clinical operations, program development, and staff supervision within an organization dedicated to providing care for individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health disorders. This position ensures the highest standards of care, compliance with regulatory requirements, and implementation of evidence-based practices, while creating a supportive, therapeutic environment that fosters recovery and wellness for clients.

Job Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership and Program Development:

● Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based treatment programs tailored to clients with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders.

● Ensure that treatment modalities and practices are up-to-date with current research and align with best practices in addiction and mental health treatment.

● Establish, monitor, and enforce clinical protocols and procedures to ensure quality care delivery.

Staff Management and Development:

● Supervise, mentor, and evaluate clinical staff, including counselors, therapists, case managers, and other clinical personnel.

● Coordinate regular team meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.

● Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, and professional growth among staff members.

Compliance and Quality Assurance:

● Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local regulations, including but not limited to HIPAA, Joint Commission, and other licensing and accreditation standards.

● Oversee internal audits, quality assurance initiatives, and compliance programs to maintain the highest standard of client care and program effectiveness.

● Develop and implement policies and procedures that meet regulatory and accreditation standards.

Client Care and Case Management Oversight:

● Ensure the proper assessment, individualized treatment planning, and continuity of care for all clients.

● Manage client intake, treatment assignments, and discharge planning to ensure a seamless, supportive experience throughout the client’s journey.

● Address and resolve clinical escalations or client crises in collaboration with clinical and support staff.

Community Outreach and Stakeholder Engagement:

● Foster relationships with community organizations, healthcare providers, and other relevant stakeholders to promote the facility’s services and enhance referral networks.

● Represent the organization at community events, conferences, and other outreach opportunities to advocate for mental health and substance use disorder recovery.

● Work collaboratively with partners to identify and implement new program opportunities and resource needs.

Budgeting and Resource Allocation:

● Collaborate with executive leadership in budgeting and resource planning to ensure adequate staffing, facilities, and materials for clinical operations.

● Oversee grant-funded programs and ensure compliance with funding requirements and reporting, if applicable.

Other Job Responsibilities:

● Assessments of residential clients regarding their substance use disorder, mental health illness, and any other medical concerns that may arise as needed.

● Communicate client concerns to the Medical Director, Clinical Director, and/or Administrator as needed. This includes but is not limited to: acute withdrawal symptoms, medication effectiveness, side effects, and/or abnormal vital signs.

Position Qualifications

Education:

● Master’s or Doctorate in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field; licensed in the state of Ohio as an LISW, LPCC, Psychologist or equivalent; Supervisory designation preferred (LISW-S, LPCC-S)

Experience:

● Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role within substance use and/or mental health treatment settings.

● Demonstrated experience in program development, clinical supervision, and compliance with state and federal regulations.

Skills and Abilities:

● Deep understanding of addiction and mental health treatment models, including evidence-based practices for co-occurring disorders.

● Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

● Capacity to work collaboratively with a diverse team and build strong community partnerships.

● Proficient in electronic health records (Kipu) and other clinical documentation systems.

● Knowledge of ASAM criteria for all levels of care.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
